Registration open for Brenda Gray volleyball camp
Next month, Sam Houston State volleyball head coach Brenda Gray will be hosting her final camp of the summer. The overnight camp is scheduled for July 15-18 and is for players ages 15 and older and will be led by Gray, along with current and former SHSU players as well as additional qualified staff members. Glenn Wilson hosting baseball camps at AOA
Throughout July and August, Alpha Omega Academy head baseball coach Glenn Wilson is hosting a series of baseball camps at AOA. The first two-week camp, schedule July 9 through 12 and July 16 through 19, is for high school players. The camp will go each day from 5-8:30 p.m and cost $295. Camp No. 2 is for players in first through eighth grade. The camp is set for July 23 through 26, running 5-8 p.m. each day, and costs $205. The third camp is a hitting camp for players ages 12 through 17. The camp will run July 30 through Aug. 2 and costs $250. Camp No. 4 is an invitation camp made up of 20 participants from the previous three camps for a summer World Series on Aug. 13-19. The cost of the World Series camp is $125. Wilson, and his son, Andy, both played professional baseball and will help coach the camps. Beginning late next month, the Huntsville Hornet coaching staff will be hosting their annual summer football camp. The camp is scheduled July 30 through Aug. 2 from 8 a.m. to noon each day for campers entering grades six through nine. The cost is $50 per camper or $25 for HISD employees. Next month, there will be a pair of volleyball camps at Huntsville High School for incoming seventh- and eighth-graders, as well as incoming ninth-graders. Both camps will be held July 23-25 at the Paul Bohan Hornet Gym. The junior high camp is set for 11:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. each day, while the ninth-grade camp is scheduled for 3-6 p.m. Both camps cost $30. Throughout the summer, Sam Houston State head baseball coach Matt Deggs and his staff will host a series of camps designed for players of all ages and skill levels at Don Sanders Stadium. In July, the Pack Youth All-Star Competition Camp will be held July 16-18, running 9 a.m. to noon each day and costs $175. In August, there will be another High School/Showcase Camp on Aug. 18, running 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $150. Raven Nest hosting junior golf clinics
Throughout the rest of this month and July, Raven Nest Golf Club will be hosting junior golf clinics. The dates of the remaining clinics are Monday, today and Friday; July 9, 11 and 13; July 16, 18 and 20; and July 23, 24 and 27. The clinics run 8-10 a.m. each day. The clinics cost $40 or $120 for the week. The camp will focus on fundamentals of swinging, chipping, putting and the rules of golf. Online registration is now available for the Huntsville Youth Football League at Huntsvilleyouthfootball.org. There will also be weekly in-person registration at Field 10 at Kate Barr Ross Park running through July 7. Spots are available for players and cheerleaders ages 5-12. Bulldogs to host strength and conditioning camp
This summer, New Waverly High School will be hosting a strength and conditioning camp. The S.W.A.T. (Strength weights agility training) is open for athletes entering seventh through 12th grade. The camp will run Monday through Aug. 2 — Monday through Thursday only — and cost $30. Three sessions are available (8-9 a.m., 10-11:30 a.m. and 5:30-7 p.m.).
