For nearly a week now, the Hornets and Lady Hornets knew who they were going to play in the first round of the playoffs.
The question, however, remained as to where these postseason games would be played and when.
After trying to come to an agreement for a few days, the sites, locations and kickoff times are now set.
The Huntsville boys, who won the outright District 39-4A championship will take on Magnolia in their bi-district playoff game in Magnolia on Friday night at 7.
Hornets coach Robert Taylor hoped to play at a neutral site, while Magnolia coaches wanted to flip to either play in Magnolia or Huntsville.
Taylor lost the coin flip and now his first-place Hornets will be playing at fourth-place Magnolia for the right to advance in the Class 4A playoffs.
“It is what it is. At the end of the day, I don’t think where we play will have an outcome on the game. I’m not sure our fans will be greatly outnumbered, so I don’t think it will make much of a difference.
“We just need to play better than Magnolia for 80 minutes.”
As far as the Lady Hornets are concerned, their playoff game with Brenham was still up in the air as far as where it would be played.
Coaches for both teams debated playing at Tomball Memorial as part of the second half of a doubleheader or playing at Tomball High School at possibly an earlier time.
The coaches came to an agreement and the playoff tile between the Lady Hornets and the Cubettes will take place at Tomball High School on Friday at 7 p.m.
