With just a couple weeks left in the season, the Huntsville Lakers are preparing for one of their biggest swim meets of the year.

The Huntsville Lakers will compete all day Saturday at the 2019 Divisionals in College Station, in an event that will feature all of the team’s competition in the Far North Division of the Northwest Aquatic League.

“Divisionals is all the teams we swim with in the Far North Division, so it's comprised of Navasota, College Station, Brenham, Bryan, Lee County and us,” said Huntsville Lakers president Angela Lyons. “It's basically the end-of-the-year event where we all swim together. Previously, they've just been dual meets where we swim against one other team.”

With some of the swimmers still hoping to qualify for invitationals, Lyons calls Divisionals, “one of most competitive events of the year.”

“It's exciting because some of them are trying to get qualifying times for invitationals,” Lyons said. “And it's exciting because they're all competing against each other, especially during the relays.”

After this weekend, the Huntsville Lakers will close out the season with the Trinity Invitational at the Woodlands Natatorium on June 22-23 and the Ponderosa Invitational at the Cy-Fair Natatorium on June 29-30.

Following the invitationals, the Huntsville Lakers have an end-of-the-year celebration planned for July 1 at the Huntsville Aquatic Center from 5:30-7 p.m.
