The Heritage Christian Academy Lady Eagles were ousted from the TAPPS Class A playoffs Tuesday night after a 47-31 loss to Seguin Lifegate in Bellville.

Seguin broke open a close game at halftime when the Lady Eagles got in foul trouble in the second half.

“We were behind 17-16 at halftime, but they pulled away when some of our key players started fouling out of the game,” HCA coach Kim Young said Wednesday.

Kandis Lippe led the Lady Eagles with 14 points. Rachel Hackleman added 12 points and Jessica Sherman had five.

“We had a very successful season,” Young said. “Jessica Sherman was without a doubt our most improved player. She came off the bench last year, and this year she started every game. Kandis averaged 24 points and 14 rebounds during district, and Rachel averaged 17 points, six rebounds and 2.2 assists. They really stepped up their games.

“We’re still a fairly young team. We’ve only got one senior, Heather Harrington. Jessica and Rachel are sophomores and Kandis is a junior, so the future looks bright.”
