“One who fears failure limits his activities. Failure is only the opportunity more intelligently to begin again.” — Henry Ford

Huntsville has any number of activities this month, and, as promised, I will continue to pass on that information.

The weather won’t keep us down in February. For instance, Huntsville State Park will be the scene of the Rocky Raccoon 100 Mile Endurance Run on Saturday and Sunday. I don’t know the time. If interested you may call Huntsville State Park or the Hill Country Trail Runners at www.hillcountrytrailrunners.com/ RaceRockyRaccoon.html

The Festival of United Cultures will be held at the Walker County Fairgrounds on Thursday, beginning at 6 p.m.

Friday, SHSU will have the grand opening of SHSU Baseball and Softball Complex. For further information, call (936) 294-1729.

That evening The Elks Lodge will have Bingo. If you have questions, just call the lodge at (936) 295-2881.

If you are looking for a spin, check out the spinning and weaving demonstration at Sam Houston Memorial Museum on Saturday. The spinners and weavers will be there from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

On that same day Carriage Inn will host a local art exhibit and auction benefiting the COME Center.

The SHSU Showcase Theatre will present “Tartuffe” Feb. 15 through Feb. 18 in the SHSU Showcase Theatre. The production is scheduled at 8 p.m. from Feb. 15 through Feb. 18. There will also be a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

For further information, call (936) 294-1339 or (936) 294-1329.

The Museum and SHSU will host the East Texas Historical Association Feb. 16 through Feb. 18.

The Sam Houston Pedalfest will benefit the Kiwanis Club on Feb. 18. Polish up your bikes and get ready. It will start at the SHSU stadium at 6 a.m. For further information, call (936) 291-2171.

On that same date, there will be a “Kick Wheel Pottery Making Demonstration” from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Sam Houston Memorial Museum.

An Alpha Omega Banquet is also set for the 18th at 6 p.m. For further information about it, call (936) 293-1188.

There’s no business like show business, so come on out Huntsville Community Theatre (Old Town Theatre) to see “Annie Get Your Gun” Feb. 23 through 25. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. nightly and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Other events later in February and early March will be offered in next week’s column.

What ever you do, folks, don’t just sit in that rocker. Get out and have some fun.
