Robert Giles Brooks was born July 10, 1947 and peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 in Austin, Texas.

Robert was a student at Sam Houston State University where he received a BS in criminal justice in May of 1970. In August of 1970, Robert volunteered his service to the United States Army ending his distinguished career with the rank of Captain in February of 1976. After receiving an honorable discharge from the US Army, Robert continued his career as a law enforcement officer for the Austin Police Department where he ended his career as a Senior Sergeant in 1986.

Robert had many accomplishments in his life. But the one he was most proud of was becoming a wonderful husband and a loving father. He touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dad, you were our best friend. We will miss you.

Robert is survived by his mother, JoAnn Brooks of Huntsville; brother, Jeb Brooks of Houston; sister, Alison Bohm of Alamorgordo, N.M.; wife, Joy Simmons-Brooks of Bertram, Texas; six children, Mark Brooks and wife, Karen, Michael Brooks, Jeff Brooks, James Brooks and wife, Amber all of Austin, Jason Wollitz of Cedar Park, Elizabeth Wollitz and husband, Jacob of Cedar Park; and grandchildren, Emily, Dylan, Casey, Caitlin, Jonathon, Alexia, and McKayla.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 1p.m. at the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. The family invites everyone to join them for a reception and time of fellowship at his daughter, Elizabeth’s house, 2008 Carriage Hills Cove, Cedar Park, Texas 78613.
