Raymond Miller Pool was born on March 6, 1924, in Walker County to William Pool and Martha Walker Pool. Mr. Pool passed away on May 24, 2010, in Trinity, at age 86.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil Pool; and three sisters, Lillian Wells, Lucille Carter and Ruth Davis.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Jo Pool; daughter, Becky Wilder and husband Boyd; two sons, Wayne Pool and wife Deborah, and Rodney Pool; brother-in-law, G.B. Cotton; six grandchildren, Randy Wilder, Tammy McGinty, Christie Bruce, Sandy Newman, Wayne Pool Jr. and Suzy Riley; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Raymond served honorably in World War II and worked as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until retiring.  He loved serving as a deacon at Second Baptist Church in Huntsville, and enjoyed being a rancher his entire life.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Cole Jr. and James and Rená Murray for support, care and compassion they gave during Raymond’s illness.

Services will be Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville with Brother Gary Garrison and Brother Bob Morphew officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Walker County. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 26, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Serving as pallbearers are David Newman, Jerry McGinty, Mike Price, Larry Wells, Troy Waller, David Martin and serving as honorary pallbearers Roy Lee Walker, Billy Davis, James Wells, Clovis Pool, Larry Pool and L.J. Stephens.
