Arthur Curtis Walker was born June 18, 1921, in Fort Jessup, La. to William Filmore and Annie (Curtis) Walker and passed away on Feb. 13, 2008, in Cleveland, Texas.

After Dick’s military service in the U.S. Army during World War II he moved to Houston and married June Cherry in 1946. They remained in Houston to raise their family and Dick owned Dick’s Auto Sales and Service and Cunill Auto Parts. He dearly loved fishing but had a real passion for trot lining. He was a devoted family man who always insisted on having a garden.

Dick is survived by his wife, June Cherry Walker; son, Arthur Curtis “Curt” Walker Jr. of Coldspring; daughter and husband, LaNell and Dan Waters of Palestine; granddaughter and husband, Treva and Russell Barham of Longview; great-grandson, Aiden Barham of Longview; sister, Ora Lee Church of Pineville, La. and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Pointblank Community Church with interment at Center Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, from 2-4 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Village Schools International, Box 1126, Marion, NC 28752, in “Memory of Mr. Arthur ‘Dick’ Walker.”
