Huntsville Police Department officers responded to the scene of a shooting in the 2600 block of Montgomery Road a little before midnight Tuesday, and details were sketchy Wednesday. HPD Detective Gary Howze told The Huntsville Item a conflict, possibly over money, began between at least three men.

“There were three individuals, and we have two in jail and one at the hospital,” he said. “We are still sorting things out, but we know a dispute began and guns were brandished.”

HPD recovered two firearms from the scene, but the investigation is still under way.

The unnamed male shooting victim was in recovery at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston after being taken by Life Flight around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

“He was shot in the arm, and then we believe the bullet entered his chest, but that’s all we know at this point,” Howze said.

Quincy Champine, 25, and Emmanual Irving, 22, both of Huntsville are in custody at the Walker County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and bond for each of them is set at $50,000. Howze said further charges could be pending.
