A Monday night traffic stop led police to the discovery of over one ounce of methamphetamine in Riverside.

Police say that they noticed a woman driving with a fictitious license plate near the 100 block of FM 3454 in Riverside around 9:30 p.m. Officers pulled over the woman – later identified as Brandi Wood, 36, from Huntsville – and asked to search the vehicle. Police say around an ounce of methamphetamine was recovered from Wood’s purse.

“This was great work by the officers who noticed the fake license plate,” WCSO Captain Tim Whitecotton said. “If they had not noticed that, we would have not gotten the drugs off the street.”

Wood was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving with a fictitious license plate. She is currently being held at the Walker County Jail on $8,500 in bonds.
