Two employees were able to run off a pair of would-be robbers at a Huntsville convenience store Tuesday night.
According to police reports, officers with the Huntsville Police Department were dispatched to an alarm at the Stop-N-Stop in the 300 block of Highway 190 at about 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, the officers learned that an aggravated robbery had taken place.
The two employees told police that one black male entered the store and displayed a small-caliber handgun while demanding money. An argument ensued and the robber became distracted, which gave the employees the opportunity to hit him with a broom, police say.
The man fled the store on foot with another black male, who was outside serving as the lookout, without getting any money.
"Witnesses have described the two suspects as black males wearing dark hoodies, blue jeans and tennis shoes," Lt. Jim Barnes said. "They left the store going southbound on Avenue B. The investigation is ongoing and we have some evidence that is being processed at this time."
Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the Huntsville Police Department at (936) 295-5407 or Crime Stoppers at (936) 294-9494.
