The Main Building at the Walker County Fairgrounds will be filled with 103 booths, a new exhibit and the Taste of Huntsville during today’s 23rd annual Trade Expo.
Sponsored by the Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce, the Trade Expo starts at 4 p.m. and continues until 8.
Tickets are free in advance and available at the Chamber office or from any of the exhibitors, or they are $2 at the door.
Chamber office manager Shannon Higbie said the Trade Expo is open to any business in Walker County and to Chamber members and provides an opportunity for businesses to showcase and promote their products and services, network with fellow business owners, receive leads and referrals, obtain feedback from customers and make media contacts.
The Taste of Huntsville will be held on the east side of the Main Building in the covered patio area and will feature 12 restaurants — one more than in 2009.
Food ranges from Mexican dishes to pizza, seafood, omelets, baked potatoes, Nestle’s Nes-Quick chocolate and strawberry milk and barbecue.
“We’re going to have a theme for the Taste of Huntsville — ‘Freedom Hall’ — a tribute to U.S. troops,” Higbie said.
Tickets for the Taste of Huntsville are $5 and are only available at the area’s entrance today.
Higbie said a new feature for the 2010 Trade Expo is an outdoor recreational area which will be located on the west side of the building.
“There will be everything from trucks and tractors and recreational vehicles,” she said. “Anything to do with recreation and outdoors. Huntsville Truck and Tractor Huntsville Rental Center will be there.”
Higbie expects at least 2,500 people to attend.
The Chamber will be giving away a $500 cash prize, sponsored by First National Bank, Community Service Credit Union and Walker County Federal Credit Union.
Wiesner-Huntsville, the event’s corporate sponsor, will be giving away oil changes and a Wal-Mart gift card and exhibitors will also have free giveaways.
