Charges have been filed against a New Waverly parent who allegedly assaulted the high school baseball coach on Thursday.

When reached by telephone Friday night, New Waverly High School baseball coach Tim Gray declined to give any details of what happened, other than to acknowledge that an assault did take place and charges have been filed.

New Waverly ISD Superintendent Clay Webb said he could not release any information on the matter until the school district has completed its investigation of the incident.

“I can’t release any information at this time,” Webb said. “I can’t tell you the truth of what happened, because I don’t even know the truth yet.”

The alleged assailant’s identity was not known at press time.
