The Huntsville Independent School District hired several new teachers during its regular board meeting Tuesday.

According to John DeBrock, HISD assistant superintendent, teachers in various subjects were hired at elementary, middle school and high school levels.

A group of four teachers were hired at Sam Houston Elementary including Courtney Lee as a second-grade teacher, Jennifer Cheney as a third-grade teacher, Meagan McCallum as a second-grade teacher and LaTresa Patterson as a first-grade teacher.

Krista Price and Gayle King were each hired as first-grade teachers at Huntsville Elementary, in addition to Torrie Utley, who was hired as a physical education teacher at the school.

At Scott Johnson Elementary, Ashley DuBose was hired as a third-grade teacher, Mitchell Phillips was hired as a second-grade teacher and Denise Braun was hired as a kindergarten teacher.

A bilingual, pre-kindergarten position at Gibbs Elementary was officially filled by Georgie Knocke, and Katherine Sharp was also hired as a pre-kindergarten teacher at the school.

Daliene Price was hired as a fourth-grade teacher at Stewart Elementary, as were Tracy Dierksheilde and Amanda Law as a first-grade teachers.

At Mance Park Middle School, Christi Baker was hired as a language arts teacher and Trent Edwards was hired as a life skills teacher.

Finally, Rhonda Brown was hired as a science and math teacher at Huntsville Intermediate School, and Kenneth Stanley was hired as a social studies teacher and coach at Huntsville High School.
