The Walker County Fair parade deadline ended Monday at 5 p.m., but late entries will be accepted throughout the week.
“We've gotten 50 entries as of Monday at 2 p.m.,” Co-chairman Tammy Winkler said.
The entry fee is $5 and forms can be picked up at Heartfield Florist on Sam Houston Avenue or the Walker County Fair Web site.
Forms must be turned in at Heartfield Florist or mailed to P.O. Box 1556, Huntsville, Texas 77340.
The theme of this year's parade is “Fair, Family and Friends … A 30-Year Tradition” and is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 27.
“I have several of the political candidates signed up,” co-chairman Sicily Pierce said. “I also have Huntsville Memorial Hospital, several of the 4-H clubs, and all the WCFA queen's contestants, who will have an individual float. The ‘Got Branded for Christ Cowboy Church,’ also signed up, as well as Liberty Tax Service.”
The fair officials will also ride in the parade, along with rodeo clowns, county and city officials and fire trucks.There will be a contest for the floats and awards will be handed out.
Winkler said the lineup for the parade begins at 5:30 p.m. on 19th Street and the parade will begin at 7 p.m. Participants will make their way down Sam Houston Avenue to 11th Street. The parade will stop at McKenzie's Bar-B-Que and Tractor Supply Company off of 11th Street.
