Local to be featured on daytime talk show

SubmittedLocal homebuilder Steve Cook sits down with Steve Harvey during the taping of "Steve." The show will air at 3 p.m. on Monday.

A local resident will make an appearance on a national daytime talk show.

On Monday, local home builder Mark Cook of Green Zone Housing, will be featured on Steve Harvey’s syndicated daytime show “Steve.”

Cook, who operates Green Zone Housing in Montgomery, builds homes out of shipping containers for homeless veterans. In the segment, Harvey helps Cook continue his work and we meet an inspiring third generation vet whose family (including his father who served and his brother who served and suffered a traumatic brain injury) benefit from their services.

Each of the containers and materials cost about $15,540, according to Cook. He said his company works with organizations like the PTSD Foundation of America's Camp Hope, Veteran Affairs, and CS Ministries to connect with veterans who are already putting forth an effort to improve their circumstances. The veterans will have a chance to earn their new home at no cost through "sweat equity," by participating in the custom construction of their home with the team.

The show will air at 3 p.m. Monday on Fox.
