ALPHA OMEGA BASEBALL — Lions to play for Iola tournament championship

HUNTSVILLE — Thanks to two convincing victories on Thursday, Alpha Omega Academy’s baseball team will be playing for a tournament title in Iola today.

The Lions beat Brenham Christian School 14-5, then took care of Burton 9-2 to advance to today’s championship game of the Iola tournament.

“We’re really starting to play really good fundamental baseball,” Alpha Omega coach Bert Lyle said late Thursday night.

Against Brenham Christian, Lions senior Marco Pardo pitched a complete game and Tucker Harris connected for three hits and four RBIs. Nathan Hsaio scored four runs and swiped three stolen bases.

Against Burton, Harris threw a complete game, giving up just two hits.

The Lions scored two runs in the first inning and three in both the third and fourth innings.

Bryson Shiflet had two hits and scored twice with three stolen bases and first baseman Dylan Morrison went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Today’s championship game is set for 4 p.m.
