Bearkats sophomore closer Matt Shelton fires a pitch to a Texas State batter during the Southland Conference tournament championship game last Saturday at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi. Shelton pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to help Sam Houston State win its third straight SLC tournament title. The Bearkats play Rice today in the opening round of the Houston Regional at Reckling Park.
