Dr. Billy Walker Bramlett
Billy Bramlett died in his sleep on Oct. 2, 2008, after an extended illness.
Billy was born to Thelma and Walker Bramlett in Lamar County, Texas, on Dec. 20, 1934. He served in the United State Army and the Texas National Guard. He is best known for his years of service at the College of Criminal Justice, Sam Houston State University. Billy earned his Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee and began his teaching career at SHSU in 1970 where he remained until his retirement.
His passion was his students, family, friends, home and pets. He was a renaissance man who helped many of his friends with their home projects as well as designing and doing most of the work himself in building a home where he and his wife have resided over the last 10 years.
He was a devoted son, father, grandfather and husband.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; his son, Bill Bramlett; his daughters, Christina Swenson and Dawn Chrane; his grandchildren, Theron Chrane, Ann Chrane, Cary Swenson, Walker Swenson, Ava Bramlett, Audrey Bramlett and Ashley Bramlett.
His son, Adam Chrane, preceded him in death.
He was a loving, generous and honorable man and has left us with so many good memories and experiences.
A memorial service, celebrating his life, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
