M.E. ‘Red’ Williams
M.E. ‘Red’ Williams was born Aug. 4, 1922, in New Hope, N.C., and passed from this life at the age of 85 on July 19, 2008.
M.E. is survived by his sister, Sarah Harris and husband Herman of Kannapolis, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Williams; granddaughters, Tara Williams and husband Emmitt, Tori Smith and husband Tim Smith, all of Huntsville; grandson, Tre’ Barber and wife Amy of Conroe; numerous great-grandchildren. Other survivors include: Charles Jones and children Susan Flanagin and John Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Whelan Williams; father, Melvin Williams; mother, Stella Williams; brother, Lee Williams; son, Everette “E.W.” Williams; and grandson, Michael E. Williams.
He served in the Army during World War II. He retired from Cooper Tools in Houston. There will be a service July 26, 2008, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 2 p.m. in Houston with military honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Emmitt Williams, Justin Williams, Tanner Williams, Mike McCrerey, Clyde O’Donnell and Bill Markham.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Box 281 in Huntsville. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for may do so at www.shmfh.com.
