Billy George Bowman I of Trinity, died in Houston on July 22, 2008, at the age of 74. He was born in Waco on July 16, 1934.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. and Thelma M. Green Bowman; sister, Bettye Jo Bowman Smith; and grandson, Sean Christopher Miller.
He grew up in Houston, attended San Jacinto High School, served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Union Ironworker.
He is survived by his wife, Verna Bowman; children, Tammy Wilson and husband Mark of DeRidder, La., Brenda Wilkes of Houston, Kimberly Thompson and husband Bobby of Ledbetter, Ky., Billy Bowman II of DeRidder, La., Tony Homnick and wife Sharlene of Tomball and Joseph Bowman of Houston; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
During his time in Trinity, he was President of the Trinity Cove Improvement Association, was a faithful member of Burning Hope Baptist Church and involved in the church ministry at House of Hope.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the House of Hope, Burning Hope Baptist Church, Highway 356 Pegoda Road, Trinity, TX 75862.
Visitation will be held July 24, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at burning Hope Baptist Church. The funeral is July 25, 2008, at 10 a.m., also at Burning Hope Baptist Church in Trinity, with burial to follw in Penelopy, Texas.
The pallbearers will be Tony Homnick, Billy Bowman II, Mark Wilson, Joseph Bowman, Danny Messa and Tony Messa. The honorary pallbearers are Kyle Brock and Jeremy Miller. An online register book is available at www.brookefuneralservice.com.
