Janelle Mcghee was born April 16, 1939, and passed from this life on July 14, 2008, in Huntsville after her courageous battle with cancer.
She was the fourth of seven children born to Elzy and Ida Kindle and is survived by her husband of 52 years, Woody McGhee; their son, Mike and his wife Terri of Spring; daughters, Mitzi Wells of Odessa, Texas, and Meg Taylor and her husband Robert of Spring. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Joe McGhee; Matt McGhee and his wife Chelsey; Chris McGhee; Jacob Wells and his wife Dena; Sarah Wells; Trent Taylor; and Megan Taylor; twin great-granddaughters, Emma and Hannah Wells; her sister, Alma Masterson of Amarillo; brothers, Mike Kindle of Clarendon, Texas, Ronnie Kindle of Amarillo, Texas, and Stan Kindle and his wife Barbara of Franklin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marlene Mitchell; brother, Wendell Kindle; and a grandson, Justin Bradley Taylor.
Janelle retired in 1996 from the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa after giving 18 years of service as the assistant director. Of the many events she organized, her favorite every year was the Permian Basin Fair and Expo.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Seymour, Dr. Maria Sosa, the staff and patients at the Sam Houston Cancer Center in Huntsville for the loving care and kindness given to their mother during her illness.
There will be a memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville on July 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Jack officiating. Interment will be held by the family at a later date at the Olympus Community Cemetery near Childress.
