Calvin Ellisor
Calvin Ellisor entered into rest on May 3, 2008 in Conroe, Texas. Calvin was born June 18, 1923 in Coldsprings, Texas to Mathew Raynor and Ethel Thompson Ellisor. He served in World War II on the Burma Road Battles and Campaigns, the Burma China Offensive, India Burma, and China Defensive. Along the way, he received many decorations and citations including the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign ribbon with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and two Overseas Service Bars. Calvin was a local roofing businessman, general contractor, and rancher. He enjoyed BBQ cook-offs, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene Ellisor; sons and daughters –in-law, Ray and Ann Ellisor of Texarkana, Texas and Jerry and Alice Ellisor of Huntsville; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Ester Davis, Mary Alice Merkel, Annie Ruth Widner, and Helen Nelson. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed Ellisor, Earl Ellisor, Curtis Ellisor, and sisters, Ruby Yeager, Maud Davis, Elva Ellisor, Ethel Widner, Catherine “Tiny” Smith, and Pat Cannalito.
Pallbearers will be Rudolph Widner Jr., David Byrd, Robert Cousins, John Jones, Ed Eaton, and Anthony Corcoran.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 5, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
Services will be Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
