Jane Jordan Duckett
Jane Jordan Duckett was born on Jan. 25, 1923, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Sidney Ray Jordan and Eula Belle Boyd Jordan. She went home to be with her Heavenly Father on April 28, 2008.
After living at Elkins Lake in Huntsville, Texas, Jane moved to San Antonio in 2005 to be closer to her daughter Melanie.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Tom Boone of Kennedale, Texas, Melanie Meier Poe and Gem Poe of San Antonio and Marianne and John Doyle of Prescott, Ariz. She is also survived by her grandson and his wife, Tom and Tanya Boone and great-granddaughter Helen Elizabeth Boone of San Jose, Calif.; her stepdaughter and husband, Sharon and George Tudhope of Adkins, Texas; foster son, Michael Gibson of Houston; and a special friend, Salvador Sanchez of New Braunfels, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jordan; uncle and aunt, Dr. Roy G. and Bertie Boyd Russell of Fort Worth; her husband, Lt. Walter H. Meier Jr. who died in the Korean War; and her husband, James Duckett of Huntsville.
A memorial service will be held at the Inn at Los Patios, 8700 Post Oak Ln., San Antonio, on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1016 Sam Houston Ave., Huntsville, Texas, 77340, or to the charity of one’s choice. A memorial service at the First United Methodist Church in Huntsville is pending.
Jane loved life and beauty and will be missed by all who knew her. In recognition of her love for God and music, the University and its students, friends and members of the Huntsville community are invited to attend the scholarship concert on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Huntsville in her memory.
