City announces holiday garbage schedule

The City of Huntsville Solid Waste Division will observe Christmas Day on Thursday. Due to the Christmas holiday, there will be no garbage collected residentially on that date. Only on the following Monday or Tuesday collection days will excess garbage outside of the residential garbage carts be collected.

Businesses with commercial dumpsters will be collected on the day before or after the Thursday scheduled date.

The Solid Waste Transfer Facility will be open as usual on Friday, but will be closed to the public on Thursday.

The Recycling Drop-Off Center, located at 590 IH-45 North, will be closed to the public on both Thursday and Friday.

The City of Huntsville Solid Waste Division will run regular garbage pick-up routes on Jan. 1. The Solid Waste Transfer Facility will be open for business as usual on Jan. 1.

Christmas trees (not artificial trees) will be picked up at the streets edge separate from regular garbage pick-up. The Street and Solid Waste Divisions will pick up Christmas trees every weekday from Jan. 5-9. City residents may also take their Christmas trees to the Solid Waste Transfer Station, free of charge, from Friday through Jan. 9.

The Recycling Drop-Off Center, located at 590 IH-45 North, will be closed to the public on Jan. 1.

If you have any questions about the garbage collection, the Solid Waste Transfer Facility, or the Recycling Drop-Off Center, please call the Solid Waste Division at (936) 294-5723.
