Wynne Home to feature Mexican artist’s work

The Wynne Home Arts Center will host a reception unveiling its new solo show in the Brown-Wynne Gallery by Mexican artist Adelina Moya this Saturday from 4-7 p.m.

The show features nearly 30 pieces by Moya in several painting mediums, including watercolor, oil, acrylic and pointillism.

Born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, in 1945, Moya has spent nearly 50 years experimenting with various painting forms, and has earned numerous acclaims in her home country.

Her work has been seen in several group and solo shows in galleries in Puebla, Monterrey and Mexico City.

She is the founder of the Angelus Art Workshop in Puebla, Mexico, and a member of several artistic groups in Mexico and South Texas, including the Watercolor Art Society in Houston.

The appearance of her work at the Wynne Home marks her debut art show in the United States.

“My inspiration stems from finding beauty in everyday scenes and objects. The challenge is expressing poetic images, using color and light to stimulate emotion, create energy, invoke a memory, or unleash the imagination,” Moya said in her artist’s statement. “My interpretation expresses with vitality that which surrounds us, making each painting a bridge between the soul of the artist and the spectator, sharing a special sensation. Expressing what I feel is the driving force to transform the ordinary into extraordinary, achieving my goal of telling a story, sharing and giving.”

Several of the pieces in Moya’s show will be for sale. Pricing information will be available at the Wynne Home.

Moya herself will be on hand for the reception, and will deliver brief remarks on her background and work at 5 p.m.
