HPD investigating burglaries
By Kristin Edwards
Staff Reporter
The Huntsville Police Department is currently investigating a series of residential burglaries which have taken place throughout Huntsville over the last two months.
One burglary in particular, a residential burglary which occurred on the 2800 block of Angier Road, is of particular interest as over $3,400 worth of personal property was stolen from the residence.
“The department is currently investigating a burglary which occurred on the 2800 block of Angier Road between May 27 at 6:30 p.m. and May 28 at 10 a.m.,” HPD senior police officer Marvin Hyvl said. “Several items were taken from the home including a Wurlitzer jukebox, several collectible sports items and some jewelry.
“Altogether, over $3,400 worth of property was stolen from the residence, and the department currently has no leads on the case.”
Other unusual items stolen from the residence included an Astrodome replica with sand from the pitcher’s mound, a 27-inch television, a Texas charm necklace, silver rings, a pearl jewelry set and two gold necklaces with topaz stones.
Additionally, two VCRs, several computer games and DVDs and a DVD player were taken.
“A shotgun was also taken from the residence which may or may not have been loaded,” Hyvl said. “We do know that shotgun shells are gone, too.”
In addition to the residential burglary on Angier, Hyvl said additional burglaries have taken place on Old Houston Road within the last month.
“We don’t have anything at this point to say that these robberies are connected, but we have had some burglaries on Old Houston Road with similar items, including VCRs, being taken,” he said.
Hyvl said the department is open to any information which may lead to the recovery of any stolen items, and Crime Stoppers calls which lead to discoveries in the case will possibly lead to source payments.
