Fellowship of Huntsville Church along with Rock Solid Character closed out a five-day community carnival, focusing on teaching children about God’s word Friday afternoon.
Children of all age groups and their parents were invited to join in the fun at Eastham-Thomason Park off 10th Street this past week and Emancipation Park off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Friday afternoon.
Youngsters from the Boys and Girls Club of Walker County also participated in many activities, including rock wall, moon walk, face painting, snowcones, balloon animals and other games.
All of the events were free of charge and available to anyone who wanted to attend.
Monte Robinson, children’s minister for the Fellowship of Huntsville Church, said, “This is a community carnival to reach out to the children in Huntsville. This is just our first go at this, and we plan on doing it again next year.”
Robinson, who supervised the activities, said the youngsters were split into two main groups.
The groups took turns participating in many of the games before going to Bible lessons and learning about Christian values, he said.
Curriculum for the lessons was supplied by the Child Evangelical Fellowship.
Beth Prim, Robinson’s assistant in organizing the event, said, “We tried to give all age groups an opportunity to have fun here, from the little kids to teenagers.”
The Fellowship of Huntsville Church, located near the Walker County Fairgrounds west of Huntsville off state Highway 30, will hold a Vacation Bible School on July 21-25.
