The Huntsville Main Street Program has announced the lineup of films for the 2009 Huntsville Summer Film Festival, set to be held July 24 and 25 at the Old Town Theatre.
This year’s festival will include the Oscar-winning Italian film “La Vita E’Bella (Life Is Beautiful)”, the classic adventure film “The Swiss Family Robinson,” Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller “Rear Window,” and Billy Wilder’s classic comedy “Some Like It Hot.”
The four films were chosen based entirely on votes from Huntsville residents.
“When we started planning this year’s Film Festival, we let the public know we wanted input from them regarding which films we should,” said Allyson Pichnic, intern with the Main Street Office. “We had lots of calls, faxes and e-mails with votes, and the four movies we picked were the ones that got the highest number of votes from the public.”
The festival will kick off on July 24 at 8 p.m. with a screening of “La Vita E’Bella,” and will continue on July 25 with a 1 p.m. screening of “The Swiss Family Robinson,” followed by a 4 p.m. screening of “Rear Window” and concluding with an 8 p.m. screening of “Some Like It Hot.”
General admission for all films is $5 per ticket. Tickets are available now and will be sold through July 25. Tickets can be purchased at the Main Street Program Office at 1203 University Avenue as well as at The Wynne Home Arts Center, The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce, The Stardust Room, Mt. Vernon Gift Shop and Cloud 9 Coffee Bar.
