TxDOT to begin road work Thursday

By Matthew Jackson
Staff Reporter

Beginning Thursday, the Texas Department of Transportation will begin the process of applying a seal coat to two Walker County roadways.

The coat will be applied to the entire length of FM 2821 and to FM 247 from FM 2628 to US 190.

The work will require some lane closures, and could cause 5-10 minute delays for motorists moving through the work zones. The entire project is expected to be completed in two days.

Placing a seal coat on the roadway is a preventative measure to prevent road damage by preventing water intrusion into the road surface itself.

The work is part of a $13.5 million dollar seal coat project spanning all 10 counties in TxDOT’s Bryan District. The contractor for the project has F. N. Ploch Construction Company Inc. of New Braunfels.
