Auditions for the second annual Huntsville Idol competition begin today, and a contestant group larger than last year has already expressed interest in the competition.
According to Paul Shiver, event coordinator, taped auditions for the competition will be held for the next three weeks at the TV 78 Huntsville station headquarters, and it’s not too late for interested participants to sign up for an audition.
“This event is already looking like it’s going to be much bigger than last year,” he said. “Everyone’s really excited, and I think people really have something to look forward to in this year’s competition. Everyone’s already really excited.”
Auditions will begin at noon today, on May 17 and on May 24.
Any entry package received after that date will stand in jeopardy of not being entered into the feature show roster, Shiver said.
In order to participate in this year’s auditions, interested participants should visit the Huntsville Idol Web site for complete audition requirements and needed materials.
“We’re excited to audition everyone who wishes to compete, and we welcome talent from all age groups,” Shiver said. “To enter, you must be 18 or older, or have a parent’s initial on our online form confirming their permission.”
To audition, participants must send a $25, non-refundable entry fee to 1024 12th Street, making checks payable to TV 78 Huntsville.
“Your audition performance will last for one minute, where you will sing a-capella before a group of judges,” Shiver said. “These judges will be looking for good intonation, vocal projection, dynamics and overall stage performance.”
