It’s time to polish your belt buckles and dust off your boots for The Walker County Fair Pro Rodeo.
The rodeo is being presented by Team Dodge, Stevenson Beer Distributing Co., LTD. and B & R Productions and Zeke’s Trucking Co., Inc. It will start at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday at the fairgrounds.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $7 for children, with free admission for children under 6.
“The PRCA Rodeo is the rodeo slack and two PRCA performances,” said Susan Vanderheydt, coordinator of the Buy-A-Bull Rider program.
According to Vanderheydt, although steer roping is over, there will be other events such as calf roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping and bull riding.
For those interested in winning a belt buckle without competing, there a ‘Buy-A-Bull Rider’ competition.
“The Buy-A-Bull Rider program is an event where you make a donation of $50 and during one of the rodeo performances, your name will be randomly selected to sponsor one of the 25 bull riders on one night,” Vanderheydt said. “If your bull rider has the highest marked ride during that performance, then you will win a beautiful belt buckle.”
There are two performances and two buckles to be won.
All proceeds are strictly for scholarship money that goes to the Rodeo Committee Scholarship fund. Last year, the program made $5,250 in scholarship funds.

Another way to get involved in the rodeo is the Shiny Buckle Club.
With a $200 donation, membership in the Shiny Buckle Buyers Group includes entrance into all PRCA. Slack performances, two tickets per rodeo performance and exclusive access into the Cowboy Camp that gives rodeo fans the opportunity to enjoy home-cooked meals and talk with the rodeo cowboys
Half of the $200 donation will be used to purchase youth livestock projects in the Walker County Fair Premium and Freezer Sale Auctions.
