Exhibitors will receive commemorative programs

By Jay Ermis
Managing Editor

Participants in eight livestock events at the Walker County Fair will be featured in a 30th annniversary commemorative program.

Gina Morrison, who is compiling names and assembling the programs, said they will be distributed the day each event is held during the fair.

The 10-day fair starts Friday.

Livestock events include goats, steers, swine, lambs, rabbits, broilers, commercial heifers and scramble heifers.

“The program will have the name of the show, the committee chairperson, committee members and the judge on the cover,” Morrison said. “On the inside, this is an opportunity for parents to wish their child good luck or friends wishing their friend good luck.

“We will have all of the exhibitors listed in the center. Around the edges of the program will be the ads we are selling. On the back of the program will be all of the donors of each event.

“This is a time for each event to show their thank you to that donor.”

Morrison said ads are $5 each and they will be sold through the check-in of each event.

The programs will be distributed at each show by the 2008 fair queen and her court.

Proceeds will benefit the fair association’s general scholarship fund.

Ads can be submitted to Morrison by e-mail at gina.morrison@sbcglobal.net

Morrison said programs have not been assembled the past few years, but “we are making an extra effort to put together the color programs to commemorate the 30th anniversary.”

“The programs give anyone the chance to wish the participants good luck and support and for family members to show their support for their exhibitors,” she said.
