The Walker County Sheriff’s Department continues its investigation into the discovery of body after receiving a call Wednesday morning.
The call came in about 9 a.m., according to Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae, and the department responded to the scene at an undisclosed location north of Huntsville.
“A Walker County resident called us, informing us they had discovered what appeared to be human remains and what appeared to be a shallow grave,” McRae said. “Based on decomposure, the body has been on location for an estimated three to five weeks.”
Upon arrival, McRae said assistance was called in.
“We made contact with the Texas Rangers and they are assisting us now,” McRae said. “We are currently in the early stages of processing the scene so we will be on location the rest of the evening and possibly on into the night.
“There’s a lot you have to do under these type of circumstances before you can actually clear a crime scene.”
McRae said as the investigation progresses, more information will be available.
