Court to consider CERT team agreement

The Walker County Commissioners Court will meet today for a special session to discuss a lighter load of agenda items.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the courthouse.
The five-member court will consider approving a memorandum of the Citizen Emergency Response Team director agreement with Joe Connell.
The CERT team, a program dedicated to help the county with emergency management and response and recovery, offers training as well as necessary equipment for residents who have an interest in assisting the county during future disasters and restoration operations.
Butch Davis, emergency management coordinator, will attend the meeting to discuss the item as well as give commissioners an update on the program.
Commissioners will also hold two public hearings on the replat of two lots — Lot 48, block three of Harmon Creek Ranchettes on Arizona Lane and Park Lane; and Lot 6, block one of Harmon Creek Ranchettes on Echo Lane.
During the meeting, the court will also:
• Discuss and/or approve minutes for March 17,
• Discuss and/or approve camera security system for storm shelter,
• Discuss and/or approve purchase of 20 Taser X26E for Sheriff's Office at a cost of $16,400,
• Discuss and/or approve bill paying,
• Discuss and/or approve claims/invoices submitted for payment,
• Discuss and/or approve declaring FAS#488, 1991 Distributor Truck and FAS#632, 1992 Chip Spreader, as surplus,
• Discuss and/or approve request to sale 1991 Distributor Truck and 1992 Chipspreader at Richie Brothers Auction,
• Discuss and/or approve right-of-way, Robinson Creek Road, owners Jo Ann Crow and David Smith,
• Discuss and/or approve Title III funds or General funds to Pine Prairie Volunteer Fire Department to purchase gloves, helmets and PASS devices in the amount of $5,568,
• Discuss and/or approve Title III funds or General funds to Riverside Volunteer Fire Department for matching funds to purchase projector for training in the amount of $310.59,
• Discuss and/or approve proclamation 2008-09 “Public Safety Telecommunications Week,”
• Discuss and/or approve proclamation 2008-10 “Child Abuse Awareness Month,”
• Discuss and/or approve R-05 Service Agreement Renewal Notice between Walker County and Appriss for the VINE Program,
• Discuss and/or approve amendment to policy 3.02 “Policy on Retirement Benefits,”
• Discuss and/or approve Interlocal Cooperation Contract between Walker County and Texas Department of Public Safety.
