Jay Ermis/The Huntsville Item Students at New Waverly Elementary School give members of the New Waverly Bulldogs’ basketball team a rousing send off Thursday afternoon, shouting words of encouragement as the team’s bus circled the parking area twice before leaving for Austin where the Bulldogs play Jim Ned of Tuscola at 8:30 a.m. today at the Erwin Center in the semifinals of the Class AA state tournament. Students at the four New Waverly campuses cheered the team and displayed signs urging the Bulldogs to “Get It Done.” Today’s classes in the New Waverly school district were canceled to give fans a chance to attend the game.
