    It’s only a matter of time before fans can start gearing up for Friday nights and Saturdays when the 2014 football campaigns get underway this fall.
    With a few more weeks until the Hornets, Bearkats, Bulldogs, Mustangs, Trojans, Tigers and Lions hit the field again for preseason football workouts, the anticipation for what the fall will bring can start for most folks this week as Dave Campbell’s Football Magazine hits grocery store shelves on Friday.

    Alpha Omega Academy was close to knocking off the top-ranked baseball team in TAPPS 2A, but couldn’t quite finish the deal in Monday’s second round matchup against First Baptist Christian of Pasadena.
    The Lions lost 6-5, despite outhitting their opponent 10-5.

  • Alpha Omega athletes shine at TAPPS Class 2A state track and field meet

    Alpha Omega Academy has a young group of track and field athletes who are going to be around for the next couple of years.
    The Lions made their mark over the weekend at the TAPPS Class 2A state meet with a pair of fourth-place finishes in the discus and 4-by-100-meter relay, respectively.

    The Alpha Omega Academy boys golf team as well as freshman Isabel Huntsman played solidly at the TAPPS Class 2A Golf State Tournament and were rewarded for their efforts.

  • ALPHA OMEGA BASEBALL — Lions roll to win first round of playoffs

    The Lions of Alpha Omega Academy kicked off the TAPPS state baseball playoffs in grand fashion Tuesday.
    Taking on one of the top teams in the state, the Lions made short work of the Indians of Hallettsville Sacred Heart in the opening round of the TAPPS Class 2A baseball playoffs on Tuesday in Hallettsville.
    Thanks to back-to-back five-run innings, Alpha Omega beat Sacred Heart 11-1 to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

    Last Wednesday at Southwyck Golf Course in Pearland, the Alpha Omega Academy boys took second place at the South Regional tournament to advance for the TAPPS Class 2A State championship that will be held at Stonetree Golf Course in Killeen on April 28 and 29.

    This softball season has been a learning experience for Alpha Omega Academy.
    With only four returning starters, the Lions are still feeling the growing pains.
    It didn’t help after the Lady Lions got run-ruled by Pasadena First Baptist 15-4.

  • ALPHA OMEGA BASEBALL — Lions rout Conroe Covenant

    The Alpha Omega Academy baseball team ran into a string of bad luck on their three-game road trip and suffered three straight losses before Tuesday’s contest.
    Being back home seemed to cure all of the Lions’ ills. Six Alpha Omega batters connected for multiple hits in a 14-2 victory against Conroe Covenant Christian.

    Alpha Omega’s batting lineup put the ball in play as well as it has all season in Tuesday’s 16-3 rout against Magnolia Legacy Prep.
